An independent body
CRIDON has the legal structure of an economic interest group and is independent in terms of its operations, decision-making and control bodies, administration and funding.
CRIDON de Paris has adopted the form of an economic interest grouping.
It has nineteen notarial chambers that are affiliated members and ten regional Councils (founder members). The status of economic interest grouping (G.I.E.) adopted by CRIDON de Paris sets the framework for its members' rights and obligations. Each CRIDON is free to adopt the legal form that it feels best matches its needs, and not all have opted for the economic interest grouping format.
Membership
The administration and operation of its control bodies
The decision, control and administration bodies at CRIDON are:

A general meeting that is convened twice yearly and that is made up of the Chamber and the Regional Council.
A Bureau made up of ten members elected at the general meeting and from which a president and four vice-presidents are chosen.
Two directors appointed by and answerable to the president.
Each CRIDON branch is free to organise itself as it wishes.
The structure adopted by CRIDON de Paris has not been adopted by the other branches.
Funding
CRIDON de Paris is not allowed to make a profit and can only use the funds needed to operate. Each year it raises membership fees from its members based on the average of the total income generated by the member notarial offices over the previous three years
In addition to the subscription fees, its budget is provided by indirect taxes that account for some 15% of the total budget. Consequently, any new financial resources brought into CRIDON de Paris automatically reduce the level of fees. The nature of its resources gives CRIDON a broad financial independence with respect to national professional bodies. The Higher Council of Notaries (Conseil Supérieur du Notariat) does not fund the CRIDON. This ensures that CRIDON has complete intellectual independence in its recommended solutions.
